CARE Corner: Employee Spotlight, Mary Davis
Through our CARE Corner spotlight, we’re proud to shine a light on our exceptional team and the work they do.
Congratulations, Mary, on your 15-year milestone! We’re incredibly thankful for your fifteen years of service and dedication to Epic Care and our patients. You’re an amazing nurse!
Mary is a Lead RN from our Castro Valley Care Center. Read on to learn more about her:
Q: What does your job entail?
A: I am a chemotherapy infusion nurse with extra responsibilities. I try to ensure that all patients that receive treatment in Castro Valley are scheduled as quickly as possible and given the best care possible. I am also responsible for my team of nurses in Castro Valley and arranging education meetings for nurses and MAs for the whole practice.
Q: What do you like most about working at Epic Care?
A: The best part is my team. All of the doctors are kind and approachable. I know that they care for each of their patients and work hard to provide the best care possible. They’re always willing to answer questions from the staff and their patients. I enjoy my fellow nurses and look forward to working with them every day. Epic Care also has fantastic MAs. They give 110% to the providers and patients. They are always willing to help when patients have questions. And I love my patients. I love getting to know them and their families. I think oncology is one field where you really develop a strong relationship with your patients. You see them often and journey with them through a difficult diagnosis and treatment. I feel it is an honor to treat them.
Q: What advice would you give a nurse just starting their career?
A: Never miss an opportunity to learn. There is so much information available now and easy to access with Google, so you should explore when you have questions. I learn at least one new piece of information at every education meeting I attend.
Q: Where’s your favorite place in the world?
A: The Oregon coast. We visit the coast every summer with my family, which are some of my life’s happiest days.
Q: You can only have one condiment for the rest of your life. Which one do you choose?
A: Mayonnaise!
Thank you, Mary!
