Having gone through the same experience when my mother and grandfather were diagnosed with cancer, I understand how difficult this can be. I also recognize an oncologist’s ability to help patients extends beyond just the ability to deliver effective and up-to-date therapy. It means serving at various turns as a passionate cheerleader, a thoughtful listener, and an honest advocate. My role as an oncologist is to understand a patient’s goals and help guide them through the full spectrum of cancer treatments”
